Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Emilio Martines received his 4-year degree (laurea) in Physics in 1991 at the University of Pisa, as a student of the Scuola Normale Superiore, with a grade of 110/110 cum laude. He earned a PhD (dottorato di ricerca) in Energetics at the University of Padova in 1995.
Since 1995 he is researcher at CNR and performs his research within Consorzio RFX in Padova.
He has been spending research periods in France, USA, Germany and Czech Republic.
He has been teaching basic physics courses for the bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and, since academic year 2005-2006, he teaches the course of Physics of Nuclear Fusion and Plasma Applications for the master’s degree in Physics at the University of Padova. He is member of the Academic Council of the Joint Research Doctorate on Fusion Science and Engineering.
He has been co-tutor of 4 PhD (dottorato di ricerca) students, supervisor of 4 theses for the master’s degree (laurea magistrale) in Physics and of 11 theses for the bachelor’s degree (laurea triennale) in Physics.
Since 2002 he is member of the International Advisory Board of the Workshop on Electric Fields, Structures and Relaxation in Edge Plasmas, renamed EFTSOMP starting from 2008. Since 2007 he is member of the International Scientific Committee of the International Workshop on Electrical Probes in Magnetized Plasmas (IWEP). He is member of the Management Committee of the MP0804 COST Action. He is member of the editorial board of the Clinical Plasma Medicine journal.
He is author or co-author of 148 papers published in refereed international journals and of 93 papers published in proceedings of international conferences. His H-index is 28 (ISI Web of Science). He is co-author of two international patents and one European patent.
Since 1st July 2007 he is the head of one of the five physics groups operating within Consorzio RFX.
His research interests include the study of helical equilibria, plasma instabilities and turbulence in fusion plasmas, and plasma applications, with emphasis on biomedical applications and on RF plasma sources.
